Sunreach
- Type: Agricultural metropolis, the breadbasket of the West.
Sunreach is the heart of Dagoneth's food production. Where Brightsong is compact and tiered, Sunreach is a sprawl of agrarian districts spread across the vast southern plains. The soil here never freezes, held in permanent yield by the deepest roots of the Marran Stabilization. It produces a greater raw volume of food than any other place on the continent, and an entire nation depends on that fact.
That dependence is also Dagoneth's central weakness. The capital, Dagon, lies far to the north, and produce must travel the mountain valley corridor to reach it. This is the Long Haul, the longest essential supply line in Ardynia, and it is a bottleneck before it is a road. Everything that feeds the populated North passes through it.
The distance forces an economy of preservation. Salting, drying, pickling, and arcane methods are not refinements at Sunreach; they are survival, the only way grain reaches Dagon without spoiling on the journey. The Dagonethian relationship to food is therefore defined less by abundance than by anxiety: the South grows more than it can easily move, and a nation that cannot move its harvest is a nation one failed shipment from hunger. Control of the corridor, and of the preservation that makes it viable, is control of Dagoneth itself.
