  • Affiliation: Independent, of western origin.
  • Role: Archivists and guardians of history.
  • Representative: Johannes Seene, custodian of the order's most dangerous records.

The Order of the Preserved Word is a monastic order devoted to the physical survival of knowledge. Its creed is blunt: "Delay is erasure." The monks do not merely study history. They intervene to keep it from being burned, lost, or rewritten, treating every unrecorded truth and every threatened document as a fight against entropy itself. To the Order, a fact that does not survive might as well never have been true.

Their mysticism is internal rather than showy. Through the discipline of Ki, they transcend ordinary physical limits: ignoring pain, moving with impossible speed, and enduring conditions that would kill an unprepared traveller. These are not powers cultivated for their own sake. They are tools, sharpened for a single purpose, which is to carry the record out of a collapse alive.

That purpose gives the Order a peculiar moral weight. Most institutions preserve what flatters them; the Preserved Word preserves what is true, including the truths that powerful people would prefer to see vanish. In a continent where Valentia holds that what is written is real, an order that guarantees the writing survives is quietly one of the most dangerous bodies in Ardynia. Its monks understand that whoever controls whether the record endures controls what the future is allowed to know.
