The Roaring Pony

locations Record

Type: Fortified Coaching Inn / Logistical Waystation
Location: Situated at a strategic bend in the southern road where it crosses a shallow stream, located south of Tilt and east of the route leading to Halmar's Clearing.
Strategic Position: The Pony functions as a "Neutral Anchor" in the wilder stretch of the southern road. It is the primary staging ground for couriers, Circuit Mediators, and merchant caravans moving between the civilized farmlands and the denser western forests.

Description

More than a simple tavern, the Roaring Pony is a compound built to absorb high-volume transit.

Architecture: Constructed of heavy stone lower walls (for defense and insulation) and timber upper stories that have been expanded over generations. The yard is broad, packed hard by heavy wagons, and enclosed by a perimeter fence that suggests boundaries without being a fortification.
Atmosphere: The common room is defined by "layered noise" and neutrality. Travelers cluster by trade (carters, merchants, locals) rather than rank. It is a place where the social hierarchy of the Crown relaxes in favor of the road's hierarchy: those who have traveled farthest eat first.

Function & Infrastructure

The Circuit Stop: The inn maintains specific protocols for Crown agents—rooms held in reserve, pre-dawn breakfasts prepared without request, and fresh mounts available for official requisition.
The Hub: It acts as an informal exchange for intelligence. Because it sits at the junction of the "Civilized South" and the "Wild West," it is often the first place where news of border disturbances (such as the movements of the Lights' Flock) is noted.
