Rhian
At a Glance
• Type: Textile Hub / Industrial Processing Center
• Location: Situated in the upper tier of the Southern Reach’s fertile plains, exactly one day’s travel south of Valegate (the southern mouth of the Valley Corridor).
◦ Strategic Position: Rhian sits at the convergence of the grazing lands (foothills) and the flax fields (plains). It serves as the primary processing station for the region's fiber harvest before goods are sent north to the capital.
• Description: A town defined by the rhythmic clatter of looms and the smell of mordants and dye. Unlike the sprawling granary districts of Sunreach, Rhian is compact and vertical, with tall drying houses designed to catch the canyon winds funneling down from the mountains.
◦ The "White Fields": During the harvest, the fields surrounding the town are covered in drying linens and raw wool, creating a stark white landscape visible from the mountain passes above.
• Function:
◦ Value Density: In Dagonethian logistics, space on the "Long Haul" through the Valley Corridor is precious. Rhian exists to convert high-volume raw materials (bales of wool and flax) into lower-volume, higher-value goods (bolts of cloth, heavy canvas, and finished garments).
◦ The Weavers' Covenant: The town is managed by a guild-structure heavily integrated with the Church, viewing the act of weaving as a form of "ordering the chaos" of nature—a reflection of Dagonethian spiritual philosophy.
