At a Glance

Type: The High Seat / The Spiritual Fortress

Location: Situated on the rocky western shores of Lake Dagon, a massive inland freshwater body that feeds directly into the frozen Northern Sea.

Strategic Position: Dagon is the "Northern Valve" of the Realm. It sits at the convergence of the nation's two most critical lifelines: the overland supply route from the south and the maritime access to the north.

Connectivity:

North: The lake provides a navigable channel to the Northern Sea, connecting the capital to the scattered Northern Islands and coastal settlements.

South/East: It is connected to Lakeview via the Old Forest Road. This route is a perilous five-day journey through the deep, sunless canopy of the Ironwood Expanse (the midlands forest). Because of the density of the woods and the presence of "Wild Land" threats, this road is heavily patrolled by the High Stewardship’s wardens.

Description: Unlike the sprawling, open architecture of Goldmere (Valentia), Dagon is built for spiritual and physical defense. The city rises vertically from the lakeshore, a grim and majestic assembly of dark stone and reinforced timber.

Atmosphere: The city embodies the Dagonethian "Sentinel Mindset." It is a place of discipline and doctrine. The air is cold, carrying the scent of deep lake water, pine resin from the forest, and incense from the constant rites of the Covenant.

Governance:

The High Stewardship: The city houses the supreme council of noble families who govern the Realm. Their authority is intertwined with the Chauntean Order, reflecting the nation’s philosophy of Dual Stewardship (Noble protection of borders, Church protection of fertility),.

Function:

The Distribution Valve: Dagon is the terminus of the "Long Haul." Grain arriving from Sunreach (via the Valley Corridor and Lakeview) is collected here. The capital then acts as the "Valve," determining how much food is distributed to the resource-poor northern regions and islands. This control over the food supply gives Dagon absolute authority over the northern territories.

The Spiritual Center: While Goldmere is the archive of law, Dagon is the fortress of faith. It is where the Covenant is maintained, ensuring that the moral clarity of the nation remains intact against the "Chaos" of the past.
